Weekly Newsletter 135: March 8

Published on 8 March 2025 at 00:02

The first week of March was a slow one, and I feel like I’m stuck in a holding pattern just waiting for certain things to happen before I can move along with my projects. My muse has also decided that I had to wait on a couple projects before I could write too, which is even more annoying. (Bonus: Scene snippet from Kalista Book 7 after Art Feature)

Author's Life:

As for personal things, there’s not much. We’ve been doing better this week as to diagnosis and hand issues. Nothing big happened this week. Though it is my Nana’s 78th birthday today! We’ll be doing something with my grandparents next week. There's nothing else really going on personally, but a lot of work things! Like commissions for a comic book panel... or three while my muse decided to take a vacation.

The work Life:

Writing:

Writing has been at a standstill this week. It’s been very annoying. I want to write, but my muse and my brain were warring. I blame my executive dysfunction and task paralysis as I’m waiting for more preorders, the art for preorders, and books to come in, plus the Omnibus is with a few beta readers. A lot is out of my hands, but my brain just won’t stop focusing on it.

Editing Formatting:

I’ve finished formatting the Omnibusthe Devil’s Daughter, 1 of 4 beta readers have finished it, AND I got the paperback proof in. It’s HUGE! I’ve added a picture with it under a copy of Chaos Theory and next to my head for reference. It’s 7x10x2 inches, and the art looks amazing in print! I will talk about signed pre-orders AFTER Chaos Theory releases on April 9th. But the eBook Pre Orders start today! It's already up on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, iBooks, Kobo, and Smashwords! You can find all the links over on the Omnibus Page. I'll add more as they become available. (The eBook is $9.99 USD because it's 3 books + the artwork)

Matt is done editing An Angel Falls! There wasn’t too much to fix, and the copy for my Dad to edit arrives on Monday!

Publishing:

Just the books!

ONLY 8 more days to Pre Order Chaos Theory! There are only 6 book orders and 1 tee shirt order... No new orders to report, sadly.

Amazon hasn't changed either, sadly. Still just 3 pre orders there.

Paperback Box!

Or Preorder It elsewhere!

Art Feature:

This week, I’m showing off a set of pictures featuring Kalista and Beryx from Book 7 (the book I’m currently writing). I made them last week, and was going to show off for that feature, but Omnibus cover had the spotlight. I’ve not gotten to this scene in the book. I was having trouble with writing and my art often drives my writing, so I made these pictures to help get me unstuck. I did write the scene for it though, so here’s a sneak peak. 😉

Scene Snippet: Kalista Chronicles Book 7

“Detective Angelic, Mister Drascul, would you please pay attention?” Ramah stopped his speech to interrupt us. I slowly pulled away from the kiss and turned to the newly minted Deputy Director (of the Preternatural and Mythical Creatures Agency’s West Coast Branch) with a glare worthy of what he'd done.

Cameras flashed, reminding me that this was a press attended event, though we were at the back of the room, and no one else even noticed our little make out session. When my eyes were on Ramah's face, I decided it was time for us to leave this soirée and the puppet addressing it from the top of the stairs.

“Thank you,” Ramah acknowledged, then looked back at his notes. I slipped my hand from Beryx’s neck to lace my fingers between those of his hand which sat on my stomach. I wouldn’t just leave though. Ramah needed to know how much he screwed up by calling us out like a couple of horny teenagers during a high school assembly. That hadn’t been the case, and he knew it, but I didn’t care what he thought.

“I'm done pretending to listen to Ramah llama ding-dong. Let's get out of here,” I projected to Beryx, who smirked, and stood straighter. He was waiting for the other shoe to drop. He knew me so well.

When Ramah looked up from his notes, I smirked, flipped him off, and teleported Beryx and I to the parking garage next to his bike. I tied my dress up again as he swung his leg over it and grinned.

“I was about to ask if you were ready to leave,” he commented as I sent all the pins holding my hair up home and summoned our helmets.

“I was ready halfway through the meal, and we still need to go shopping...”

Thanks for reading!
