Weekly Newsletter 117: November 2

Published on 2 November 2024 at 00:02

It’s the November, the 2nd to last month of the year, and–even though I am no longer affiliated with the brand or the organization—it’s also National Novel Writing Month, AND TODAY is Indie Author Day!! Read on to learn what I’m doing instead of using that organization to write a book this month and how I didn’t get to go to the workshop at the Buffalo and Erie County Library today.

Author's Life:

Some old and sad business: If you keep up with me on social media you’ll know that I got sick on Monday. The cold that my husband caught from a coworker was passed on to me. Thank you, autoimmune disorder *sarcasm*. I tried my best to fight it all week, but woke up feeling like death warmed over on Halloween(Thursday)—how appropriate for the holiday *eyeroll*—which was also the Book release of AN ANGEL ENSNARED! So, that was annoying... But I made the executive decision on Thursday to let the Library Director know that I would not be able to attend the workshop or participate as I’d gotten sick, and I’m glad I did because I’m still recovering—and stopping to blow my nose every other paragraph too. 🤧 It’s awful 🤧

For the new and exciting business: Since I no longer work with NaNoWriMo or use their website, I will be using Pacemaker Press to keep track of and chart my goals. I’ll talk more about that in the next bit. 😉

Writing & Editing:

Editing/rewrite:

     I decided to put off the editing/rewrite of Cookies & Rage for the month of November. 1) because it’s National Novel Writing Month, 2) because I have a few things coming up this month where I won’t be able to focus as well on the two intertwining books. ^_^;

Writing:

In place of NaNoWriMo’s 50k goal, I’ve decided to raise it to finishing a book goal, which is to say 120k-ish. I’m going to use the “new book” that I wrote the chapter for last week, because it won’t leave me alone. Not only do I have a title for it, but I also a temp cover made (temp cause it’s not the proper size), and some character art too! This book features the 2nd eldest daughter of a Villain and born into the Underworld, unable to escape it, even when her mother was dead and buried along with the first Triumvirate of Evil.

It’s interesting to write the other side of the coin with this story. Instead of writing a Marshal, PI, Vigilante, or Anti-hero working with the Preternatural and Mythical Creatures Agency, I’m writing a traumatized daughter of the Villains, who was forced into her role within the Underworld and never given a chance to get out of her mother’s shadow. Therefore, the title is “The Legacy of Her Mother.”

In the timeline, it’s 12 years after the Deadly Sirens Series, and 30 years after An Angel Ensnared. It happens around the time of Ashalynn and Lilith’s books, which will come out around the same time. Whenever that is. I haven’t decided yet. Fun Fact: Ashalynn’s book is still my favorite Born Angel Novel to date.

Thank you for reading this far, here’s a snippet

from "the Legacy of Her Mother”:

“Trust me,” he said, speeding through a yellow light as it went red. I grabbed onto the ‘oh shit’ handle and braced.

“I hate that phrase,” I reminded him as he sped through the city, headed away from his house. “What the hell are you doing?” he opened his mouth and I shouted over him while trying to hold onto the drinks. “And don’t you dare say, ‘Trust me’.”

“Have a little faith.” He winked then we disappeared from that road and onto another.

  1.      An Angel Ensnared is now out!! You can order EVERYWHERE. And if you want more information about the book, such as triggers, warnings, and so on, click here ➡️An Angel Ensnared.

  2.      The Anthology I was apart of and benefits the Wounded Warriors Project: "Where Myths Walk" is out now until December 30th! You can get it in paperback, hardcover, and ePub now!
  3.      I'm also in another anthology, to help with the aftermath of Hurricane Hellene. I don't have any info as to when it comes out, but it will be soon!

Art Feature:

Here is some character art of the Main Character of The Legacy of Her Mother: Lori O. Adelle. This is her Angeleki (her angelic form) standing in her mother's throne room, which is also the Throne Room of the UnSeleighe Court of Fae. Fun Fact: Lori is the Born Angel of Vengeance and Redemption, and the Heir of her Father.

Thanks for reading!
